The Author
T. D. Hill (Wichita, Kiowa, Pawnee) is a Native American artist, writer, motivational speaker, and fitness professional. While interviewing his grandparents for a Sociology assignment, he learned how important storytelling truly was to his Native American culture. He came to understand how the old stories served to connect us all in bonds so much stronger than mere blood alone. This project eventually turned into a lifelong pursuit of Native American Folklore and Mythology for Hill.
As a motivational speaker T. D. Hill has traveled all across "Indian Country" for both the Native American Youth to Elder Foundation and for Cloudboy Consulting LLC. While visiting tribal communities and reservations, he gained a deeper understanding of these tribes through their stories. He then decided to preserve and compile as many Native American tales as he could. And for nine years he did just that, but eventually he came to the realization that he shouldn't hoard all of these wonderful stories for himself. They didn't really belong to him. So he started writing and illustrating a series of books to share with everyone. As an artist T. D. Hill has had extensive training and experience with most of the traditional mediums such as pen w/ink, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, oil, high fire Raku, and both wheel thrown and hand built pottery. Recently he has begun to experiment with his art by displaying traditional Native American motifs on non-traditional mediums such as wood (pyrography), glass (etching) and stained glass; so far producing mixed but interesting results. |

What Reviewers are saying...
"The Age of Myths and Legends will take you on an exciting journey through Native American folklore. T.D. Hill artfully draws together characters from many indigenous traditions including his own, exposing both the uniqueness of each story and the commonalities across them. Hill’s beautiful paintings also give these fearsome creatures full visual effect. A valuable and thorough collection of the earliest folktales and teachings of Native American elders." |
"Hill takes you on a mesmerizing journey through the tales of monsters and evil beings in Native American folklore. The similarities among the tales across peoples fascinated me and gave me goose bumps, especially when great distances separated the peoples! Hill's art masterfully adds a visual chill to the image his words paint, eliciting an extra shiver of delighted terror." |
"Perfect for those who love mythology, and especially mythology of the First Americans. I’m definitely looking forward to the next in the series." |
